Regular Season Round 23: Union Mons - Leuven 85-71

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Leuven Bears (12-10) lost to tenth ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (12-10) in Jemappes 71-85 on Saturday. Union Mons shot 63.5 percent from the field. Union Mons had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Icelandic swingman Styrmir Thrastarson (200-2001, college: Davidson, agency: Blacktop Management) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Zaccharie Mortant (192-1998) accounted for 11 points and 8 assists for the winning side. Five Belfius Mons-Hainaut players scored in double figures. American point guard Casey Benson (191-1995, college: GCU) came up with 14 points and 4 assists and the other American import forward Aaron Carver (201-1996, college: ODU) added 7 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Leuven in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Union Mons moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Leuven.
